If You Feel Stuck, Read These 5 Books ASAP

I can’t even put these in order because they’re just too good. I’ve gathered my top 5 favourite books that had the most impact on me and my journey in sElF DevElOpmeNt . If you’re not completely satisfied with the way your life is going – you feel stuck, like you know you can do more, you just have no clue where to start. Start here. You can purchase all the books on amazon HERE.

The Success Principles – Jack Canfield

The OG of self help books. I’ve talked about this one before in other blog posts – it was the first book I bought in the self development world so it holds a special place in my heart. I like this book because it lays out steps for you to take, it really guides you through finding out what you want to do with your life, realistically we all know deep down but are too scared to admit it because it’s 1) going to be hard work and 2) are scared of what everyone around us will think/say. The perfect book to start off with.

You Are a Badass – Jen Sincero

This one really kicked my ass. Like I mean it was the first book I read where I didn’t just read it I finally took action. If it wasn’t for this book you wouldn’t be reading this right now because I was literally SO SCARED to share this blog. I had the blog finished for over 2 months just sitting there, over a dozen posts already written I just couldn’t find the nerve to actually tell people about it – until I read this book. It made me realize that the only person stopping me from posting it, was me? I had come up with ridiculous reasons in my head as to my I should keep putting it off…”You’re just not ready”, “What do you know, you literally still drink your face off every other weekend you can’t talk about self-help” (lol) until I just hit the share button on instagram, thanks Jen.

The Wisdom of Groundhog Day – Paul Hannam

This is probably one of the most heart-warming books I’ve ever read. You know the Bill Murray movie? Well this book is based off of that. For those of you who don’t know Bill plays a major douchebag news anchor that moves to a small town and hates his life, thinks he’s better than everyone, etc. One day he wakes up to realize he’s living the same day over and over and over and over. You get the point. Anyways, he finally comes to the conclusion that he’s the only person who can change his perspective on life, he’s in complete control of his happiness. You bet your ass by the end of the movie he starts finding joy in the smallest things, falls in love and then he’s magically out of that warphole with a whole new outlook on life. He make’s every single day amazing.

This one really helped me find the silver lining in every situation that I’m in. I get that it’s a lot easier to read about finding the good in every situation than it is to actually do it in real time, some people even find it annoying but if you’re one of those people that find it annoying you should probably read this book.

Everything is Figuroutable – Marie Forleo

It’s rare that I’ll listen to a podcast or watch a video of someone that I have never seen or heard before and immediately want to buy their product. Cue Marie Forleo. I heard her on Ed Mylett’s podcast and just CLICKED with this bitch. Her story, her voice, her brand. I just love the way she looks at life so I immediately hopped on Amazon and bought her book. This one is great because self- help can be super daunting, it comes with a lot of misconceptions for example you have to be some hippy vegan girl that speaks to spirits in her spare time. She makes self – help fun and lighthearted. I also love when people swear in their books. I don’t know that’s just me.

A New Earth – Awakening to Your Life’s Purpose – Eckhart Tolle

Okay. You’ve got to take this one slow. This is one of those books where I was consistently re-reading lines and paragraphs to make it make sense. But once I wrapped my head around it it was MIND BLOWING. This book is all about living in the present moment, it teaches you to detach from your thoughts, that they are not YOU. Your thoughts are what you’ve been conditioned to believe. Everything that’s happened to you up to this moment has shaped the way you look at different scenarios, the way you react to things. I genuinely think this needs to be taught in schools – but considering they don’t even teach proper sex ed yet, it may be a while.

If you’re just starting out with self development, I would suggest NOT reading this one first as you’ll probably roll your eyes and call bullshit which I get, I was at that point before too. But once you pick up this book and understand where he’s coming from, you’ll be woke af. There’s no going back.

I’m always looking for new book recommendations shoot me a message or DM if you have any must-reads! xo
